Amadeus has announced a relevant agreement with Southwest, the biggest North American airline by number of passengers carried; said carrier will use Amadeus Altea Reservation in order to manage its domestic business. Altea Reservation is its platform‘s specific management module for sales and bookings: Altea Platform (the clients management integrated platform that processes sales, bookings, inventories and flights departures).
Two years ago, Amadeus and Southwest signed a similar agreement for the use of Altea Reservation in its international business. The airline started using it on January this year. Nowadays the American airline is using a single booking platform, relying to Amadeus other management functions such as sales and reservations in all its businesses, both domestic and international. This new alliance supposes a fresh backing for Amadeus growth strategy in the United States.
Southwest is the largest American technological partner of Amadeus in terms of domestic passengers boarded annually. Amadeus has over 100 airlines in its Altea platform – most of them based in Europe, Asia and Latin America -. Once implemented, Southwest will be Amadeus’ greatest technological partner at worldwide level in terms of boarded passengers.
