Bookingmotor Multi-factor authentication

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) significantly improves account security by requiring an additional verification step beyond your password. This verification is performed using a time-based security code generated by a trusted application.

Why multi-factor authentication is important

Passwords alone are no longer sufficient to protect online accounts. MFA reduces the risk of unauthorized access by requiring something you know (your password) and something you have (your mobile device).

  • Protects your account even if your password is exposed
  • Prevents access from untrusted devices or locations
  • Meets modern security and compliance standards
  • Uses short-lived codes that automatically expire
How two-step verification works
  1. You sign in using your username and password
  2. The system requests a temporary verification code
  3. You generate the code using an authentication app on your mobile device
  4. Access is granted only after successful verification
Compatible authentication apps

Any application that supports time-based one-time passwords (TOTP) can be used. Below are two commonly used examples.

Google Authenticator

Google Authenticator

Google Authenticator is a free mobile application that generates secure, time-based verification codes without requiring an internet connection.

Setup instructions
  1. Install Google Authenticator from the App Store or Google Play
  2. Open the app and select Add account
  3. Choose Scan a QR code
  4. Scan the QR code displayed on this page
  5. Enter the 6-digit code generated by the app to complete setup

Google Authenticator generates a new code every 30 seconds.

Microsoft Authenticator

Microsoft Authenticator

Microsoft Authenticator provides secure two-step verification and supports both code-based authentication and push notifications.

Setup instructions
  1. Install Microsoft Authenticator from the App Store or Google Play
  2. Open the app and tap Add account
  3. Select Other account (or similar option)
  4. Scan the QR code shown on this page
  5. Enter the generated 6-digit code to confirm setup

Codes are time-based and automatically refresh every 30 seconds.

Using two-step verification

Once MFA is enabled, you will be required to enter a verification code each time you sign in from a new session or device.

Security recommendations
  • Do not share your verification codes with anyone
  • Keep your mobile device protected with a PIN or biometric lock
  • Save your recovery options in case you lose access to your device
